Blog 23: Only 50 grams between me an 89 kilos

A quick one today.

This week my fellow Kilos for Kids fundraiser made her second donation milestone: reaching 10 kilos.
Her success makes me ache to beat my own personal best of 88 kilos having gone under the 90 kilo mark earlier this year only to have a change in jobs, habits and food put me back over the dreaded line.

6 days a week at the gym for 9 weeks now and that line is back in site.
Today... the blessed scales laughed at me.

90.05

Can you believe that?

That is a sneeze away from 89.something.

AAARRRGGGH.

Hopefully having eaten well today, another work out tonight/tomorrow I should be able to report the magic 88-89 number REALLY soon!

P.s if you want to support Nicci in her second donation milesone- please click on the link to go to her fundraiser page. Donate or leave a message to support her please.

Blog 22. It has been 26 weeks since my last confession...

Quietly.... hello!

Please forgive me, it has been 26 weeks since my last confession.
A lot has happened in the real world of Kilos For Kids.
Firstly I started a new full time job! I can't believe it has been nearly six months already!

I love it, it is my real big girl job. I could do this for a very long time.
BUT! It has meant that my life is now a series of repetitive, organised days, scheduled to the minute!

I didn't prioritise blog time. I didn't prioritise my loyal followers.
For that I am eternally sorry.

I did let the new bakery around the corner from my new job set my weight loss goals back a few kilos- hence my first confession.

I had allowed my weight to bounce back to 94.5!!
So what did I do about it?

I decided to take on Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation Challenge.

I paid the $199 (under duress, then realised it was penalty for letting the weight come back on)
I logged in, checked my guilt at the door, took some "before photos" ran a kilometre time trial and

GOT BACK INTO ACTION!

Since then, I have incorporated an eating plan with meals cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients, taken my lunch to work daily and squeezed in 6 gym routines a week. That's right 6 days of gym!!
(hence why the lack of blog time... sorry....)

Where am I now??? I am now running 15-17 minutes on the treadmill without stops- so that is 2 kms straight!

And back to 91.2

What is next? in the words of Forest Gump... (not the reference to chocolate)

"I just felt like runnin...."

So run I shall....

Catch you next week if you are still reading!
As penance, I will upload my new "before" photos at week 8. The week 4 photos are already showing improvement

I am hoping to achieve the big 10 kilo mark by the end of the 12 week challenge.
I hope you are still with me!

XOXO

Blog 21: Easter- a time for new beginnings?

Good morning all! I hope you all have a fabulous Easter and that you make good use of the four days off ( I hope you get some time off at least!) and take a minute to remember the true meaning of Easter before the chocolate manufacturers got a hold of it!

I have already partaken in some chocolate consumption- though I do have to say if you dish out the portion that you plan on eating and stick to it- it does make the chocolate eating much more intentional.

Eat it. Enjoy it and do it on purpose- don't mindlessly eat a bag of little eggs and then get to the bottom and go oops.

I haven't lost anything further this week (in fact I gained 300gms) simply due to some time management issues and not being able to prioritise the exercise. It has shown me that if I want to keep this weight off permanently I need to permanently have exercise in my life. So with three more days off from "paid" work... I will be getting back out there.

I have also added an exercise bike to my living room- and hoping to clock up some mileage and report some new goals and results there soon!

Have a fabulous Easter! and remember 1 minute on the lips= 1 year on the hips and probably 1kg on the scales!!

XOXOXO

Blog 19: No saggy baggy elephants!

 Good morning...... another 0.8kilos gone!

I asked the universe to please allow me to lose all my weight without getting baggy skin. And when I was getting cranky that my losses were coming in grams rather than kilos (that it was happening in small lots) I then realised that maybe it was so that I wouldn't go all saggy baggy elephant.

So I am now at peace with just over a kilo every 2 weeks.

Starting weight: 96.9
Current Weight: 88.5
Total loss now: 8.4 kilos

My new scales also do BMI and my fat percentage... it tells me I have 31.7 kilos of fat... YUCK. Thats 35%

So for my friend DAN the MAN.... I gotta bit of work to do huh?

I am trying to make room in the budget for some group PT sessions to get the toning and the muscle strengthening happen. All in good time!
And this week we started a GoFundraise page which even has a goal thermometer to show how we are going. It's a shame, but we can't have it read the first $384 we raised.... but still. We are on the way!

So if you want to show your support in what we are trying to do..... then click HERE and it will taken to our fundraiser page. I can be grateful enough for the support so far... and I am hoping that my other friends who have waited in the sidelines now understand that I mean business! No fads! This is going to be the way I make a difference in this world and I hope that you can help me do it too!

I wonder what the women in the Cambodia Centre for Girls would think if they knew I was walking my ass off in the hope that my friends would chip in and help them out and stay safe.... interesting thought.

Hope you all have a fab week and cheer me on walking in the wind and cold!

XOXO

Blog 18: It's the little things that count

Well it is crazy house this morning... two dinosaur boys and grumpy adults.
We had a massive day yesterday enjoying the spontaneity of the local festival- face painting, jumping castles, rides and then we took the boys for a run around a big park. Lots of energy expended there by us adults keeping up with them too!!

The offer to crash on the couch was inviting- but I realised that it is always the exercise you do when you are tired that makes the difference. So the Run Keeper went on and I did a solo walk for a change- managed to knock off 5 klicks in the hour and went a different path than usual with a few good hills.

I was grateful when I got up this morning that I was still in the 80 somethings- something I saw dissapear after our night out to dinner with friends and a few nights later for our anniversary. It was so ironic that the night we refused desert the staff came out with their famous creme brulee with a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY written in chocolate around the indulgent plate. So it has taken some much more stoic efforts to get back there again... hopefully next week 88 something and then I won't have to worry about the possibility of bouncing back to 90- it is heartbreaking!

Starting Weight 96.9
Current Weight 89.3
Total Loss 7.6 Kilos

I hope you all have a great week of choosing the stairs, parking a bit further away, taking the pram or just not choosing the couch!

Catch you next week!
XOXOXO

Blog 17: Yeah baby YEAH BABY!!

GOOOOOD MORNING BLOG WORLD!!!!!

YEAAAAAHHAAAAAH!

Well, it finally clicked over on the scales! I must apologise for a Saturday weigh in but I really needed for the scales to reflect how I was feeling; lighter and a little fitter... just 80 something! But all week 90.4 then 90.0 it was TEASING me all week. I was determined. I refused the hot cross buns.... I ate sushi when I wanted schnitzel burgers, I ate the Tom Yum when the girls were eating creamy curries.... I walked, I jogged, I pushed that pram full of heavy boys.....

and Finally.

Starting Weight: 96.9
Current Weight: 89.7
Total Loss:   7.2

Oh yeah! Thats another half a kilo... and in the 80 somethings. SWEET.

A good blog is a quick blog: so adios!
Just a quick reminder that if you have pledged per kilo and never really got around to it the first time (4 kilos) or the second time (6 kilos) I have to please ask to stand by your word
and get the money over to World Hope Australia by clicking HERE

Blog 16: AAARRGGH so close!- DONATION MILESTONE!

Good Morning!

I am ever so grateful to have lost another 0.6 kilo this week- and I certainly know how every half kilo adds up in the long term.... but JEEPERS CREEPERS! To be 300gms away from being in the 80 something kilos range! GRRRR so CLOSE!!!

This Weeks Excuses-
  1. It has been raining cats and dogs and I haven't been able to do the daycare pickup on foot.
  2. The hubby hasn't been home when the kids are in bed for me to leave and go walking
  3. I have had a heap of other commitments after hours that I prioritised over exercise; including grumpy children.
  4. I have eaten what I have had available (mind you... no junk food though) and no time to prepare anything healthier.
Next Weeks Plan-
  1. Get the exercise bike from mum's house as a wet weather plan and for when hubby not home.
  2. Prioritise food preparation and exercise before the other comittments and know that it is possible to fit everything in!
  3. Get to 89 kilos by next week!!!

So drum roll---------

Another donation milestone- some of my loyal followers donated at the 4 kilo mark, some in between, and some NOT YET. So Here are the vitals.....

Starting Weight: 96.9
Current Weight: 90.2
Total Loss: 6.7 Kilos

WOW- I have to remind myself that it is possible for a working-mother-of-two to eat better
and sneak some exercise and make a difference!!

If you want to get behind me and show your continued support please donate to my cause and give me an extra reason to do my best, to do better than my best
and to get my grove on week after week!

So..... for donations please-

Blog 15: "Just keep swimming.... just keep swimming" (Dory)

Hey y'all..... what a week it has been! My husband and I celebrated his birthday in at midnight at the Royal Childrens Hospital... yay! 3 nights and four days in and out of the wonderful new hospital with our youngest with croup. To all those parents who never want to see the inside of the building for medical reasons- you will be impressed. Great staff, better facilities, a massive fish tanks and funnily enough GREAT SUSHI.

I think if it weren't for the fab sushi I probably would have gained this week! Eating at night time to stay awake and to fuel up when we were awake at one point for like 50 hours. So I am glad the extra lollies and barbeque shapes didn't do too much damage.

But enough said! The new scales (hubby's birthday present) now measures body fat percentage, water, bone mass and BMI. As soon as I figure out how to make it all go I will be able to report all the vitals as well as the actual kilos. Wise for someone like me who is now the heaviest female in the family but who is taller than some and shorter than others- so BMI is a much better number to observe!

Oh and even more exciting- even though I only lost a few hundred grams this week- it has meant that I am now less than 1 kilo away from being 89 kilos which has been a goal for months.... yay!

        Starting Weight   96.9 Kilos
        Last Week          91.2 Kilos
        This Week           90.8 Kilos

   Total Loss         6.1 Kilos

Watch this space! See you all next week! Last week till our next donation milestone- aaaah. This is where the motivation is!

XOXO Me.

P.s if you haven't already please like the "Kilos for Kids" facebook page because I am hoping to get some marketing happening to leverage some gym time- need to ramp up the exercise and I am hoping someone would love a case study!!! So "LIKE" it please.

Blog 14: Got my Grove Back!

Good Morning!!! Ok, now you may notice that my pearly piggy's are resting on a different set of scales.... I have upgraded to a WW set. It has afforded me an extra loss of a few hundred grams
but trust me the rest of it was literally walked/run off!

Ta Da!!!

Starting Weight: 96.9
Weight Last Week: 92.9
Current Weight: 91.2

Total Weight loss to date: 5.7Kilos!

Quick reminder- I have been taking donations at the end of the month per kilo to donate to World Hope Australia for their Cambodia Centre for Women (rescuing women from the slavery of the sex industry)
Last year the first call for donation was at 4 kilos (thanks to those who have)
And at the end of Feb there will be another donation point. We have so far raised $350+ and I promise to keep working hard to lose weight if you promise to keep donating when I do!!!

(Donation details on earlier blogs- and will be re-posted at the end of the month)

So this week- back on the wagon :)
I have made fresh smoothies of banana and what ever else in the fruit bowl
with a big juicy handful of spinach.
The T-rex enjoys his green banana lava too!

We have done our 6km walk literally rain or shine even when we were already exhausted. I have eaten sushimi and fresh food when I really wanted a pie. I have taken left over dinner to work for lunch instead of starving myself by skipping meals (and saving some money too!). I have limited my soy-lattes to one every couple of days (another money saver) which has halved my soy milk intake. Up with the Water!
I am doing these things because I want to succeed! And this time I will.... I think.

If you are reading this but have not liked my Kilo's for Kids facebook page please do that right now... I know my weightloss is now dependant on my stepping up the exercise so it would be awesome to get the "likes" up so I can approach some local trainers/gyms for official sponsor ship-
Then the real work will have to begin!

SO PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD FOR ME!

Catch ya next week!
XOXO

Blog 13: Lucky for some!

Hello my faithful followers! Long time no see!

Firstly let me apologise for dissapearing for nearly two whole months! I really didn't think i would be missed until last week I got a message that said "where is your blog.... I have been waiting to donate.... where did you go???" to miss R.L you know who you are. And for everyone that was witness as my sisters suprise birthday party when we got a not so causal "speaking of something missing,.... where is your blog?? It was like my own personal biggest loser, I liked the updates and what?? Gone!" and MR D.D we ALL know who you are!!!

Thankyou to all who made a point of telling us that it was worthwhile and that you were still supporting us!!

Now... moment of truth which is what I had avoided all this time. Yup... a gain. But have no fear the 1.5 Kilo setback will not be an issue next week!

For those in the know... the pedi speaks volumes about the legitimacy of this photo! LOL
So just to recap.

Starting weight... 96.9
Lowest weight.... 91.4
Current weight..... 92.9

So... the goal for this week is to better my lowest weight
and knock off the xmas kilo!!!

Today I gathered the boys and walked to storytime and back (probably 6kms with the double decker pram) and then just finished a "girl talk" walk with my mum and friend of another 6km's.

I'm Back.... Baby.... I AM BACK!!!!

I am committed in 2012 to blog EVERY week. And maybe next month if I get enough encouragement I may start
posting before and after photos!
Leave a comment of encouragement..... go on!

Look forward to catching you all next monday!!

XOXOXO
